Ethos Strategy Group is a planning, research and communications firm based in Vancouver, BC.
We have worked on some of the most pressing public interest issues in Canada including: poverty and homelessness, public education, climate change and other environmental issues.

Our Team
Catherine Evans │ Principal, Senior Consultant and Policy Strategist
Catherine has significant policy development, communications, strategic planning and project management skills from her background in the public sector. She has worked with all levels of government as well as with community-based organizations to advance public policy goals on a broad range of issues. Catherine is a writer, facilitator, lawyer, and educator. She has been at the forefront of major policy initiatives and used her problem-solving and analytical abilities to advance solutions and build consensus.
Helesia Luke │ Principal, Senior Consultant and Campaign Specialist
Helesia has worked extensively with government agencies, community groups and not-for-profit organizations. She has led numerous organizations through the development of communications plans and media campaigns on a broad array of topics. She is a facilitator, media advisor, writer, strategic planner and skilled communications professional.
Helesia is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal.
Shawnee Hummel | Administration and Creative
Shawnee is a student at Langara College in the Aboriginal Studies program. She previously volunteered at the Urban Native Youth Association as a mentor to young women. Shawnee plans on transferring to Simon Fraser University and pursuing an undergraduate degree in the First Nations Studies Program with a minor in Counselling and Human Development.
At Ethos, Shawnee provides administrative, creative and project management support and generally keeps us on task!
Miles Bruce | Project Outreach and Communications Support
Miles is a student at Simon Fraser University. He brings a variety of work experience to his role at Ethos including musical performance with groups like Lotus Child, Hey Ocean! and Poor Places (with Dan Mangan). Miles has also run the First Tee Junior Golf Program for Vancouver’s YMCA and toured hundreds of schools with SAM2 by Scrap Arts Music. Miles is the Outreach Co-ordinator for the Vancouver Schools at 125 Yearbook project.

Design HQ is a full service design firm established in 1989. Ethos and Design HQ have collaborated on a number of projects including Homelessness Action Week and Rivers Without Borders.
Ian McSorely │ Principal, Designer and Creative Director
Ian’s work has been recognized with numerous awards for design excellence – particularly for the development of corporate and product identities. More importantly, the long-term clients he works with have been recognized with awards for design and marketing excellence – the ultimate accolade. During his 10 year working relationship with Gemcom Software International, he designed their corporate identity; corporate communications; annual reports; all product packaging, documentation and sales collateral; signage and exhibit systems. During this period, Gemcom received the BC Export Excellence Award for Excellence in Marketing Innovation as well as the Canadian Export Development Award of Excellence.
Kelly Brooks │ Principal, Designer and Art Director
Kelly’s design work has been recognized with numerous awards of excellence, including Judges Choice; best of category and best of show. From 2001 through 2006, Kelly worked on a number of contracts as Art Director with Go Direct Marketing (now RMG Connect), where she designed Direct Marketing (DM) print collateral for TELUS, VanCity, and Johnson and Johnson (LifeScan).Recently, Kelly has designed and art directed DM at Cossette Communications/Blitz for Allstream and Manitoba Telecom. Some of these DM programs achieved remarkable response rates over 26%.

John McGee │ Production Manager
Production Magic offers a complete range of media production services. They have extensive experience in Broadcast TV production, Multimedia Services, and Internet Development. Throughout the years, John has provided Production Magic’s clients with the latest and highest quality technology.
John is the consummate visual storyteller, with a passion for beautiful shots, detail and emotion. He never misses the magic shot, while ensuring we never miss the human connection in the story.
Music Production Partner
Bill Sample │ Composer, Arranger and Musician
Bill Sample Music is a full-service music production studio. Bill works with us to produce radio and television public service announcements for network and web broadcast.
Bill is an award winning composer and music director. His TV, video and film credits are numerous including scores for documentaries including episodes of CBC’s Life and Times and The Nature of Things. Bill has written hundreds of jingles for a range of clients including Boston Pizza, Safeway, Mazda, CTV and TD Canada Trust. Bill has been commissioned to write custom songs for special projects including In the Midst of Plenty for CBC’s annual radio food bank show.
